Many new young directors have proven to actually be promising and talented. There are now more platforms where gore/ecchi/borderline hentai anime can be successful and exist again. Japan which was suffering a lot thanks to the credit card business has now been adopting new alternate methods of payment which is helping. A lot of mangaka and creatives have fought against the overseas market to prevent them from being able to buy Japanese companies. Almost everything that tries to cater too heavily to overseas has failed miserably so some producers have gotten the memo.
But at the same time, the far right party of Japan which is from my understanding leading in votes wants to push for globalization and censorship. Shueisha which is pretty much the biggest manga publisher in the world has been deteriorating thanks to them not properly training the new generation of editors and all the competent ones getting promoted. A common anime producer known as Remow has been pushing hard for censorship in order to upload anime episodes on youtube. There's still a lot of networks that are very adamant on censorship of certain timeslots. Disney+ is a shit platform, however they pick exclusivity rights for a bunch of really good anime and studios end up giving in due to them allowing gore, this means that these anime don't have to suffer censorship and are able to have a good budget but end up failing miserably financially since no one actually uses the platform in Japan.
