Anime aside, donโ€™t forget about Jump+ censorship.
Censorship is hitting Japan from multiple directions.

Read the volume releases, they're uncensored, that's what the author is asking you to do too.

What a shame.
The other big shame is that even after all these years of things continuously getting worse there are still people who kick and scream and say everything is fine if you try to talk about it

It sounds like a garbage translation if anything.
There's plenty of artists that bowed to censorship imposed on the medium, as they've have for the past 200 years.

Anybody that doesn't know about censorship in manga apps and certain manga magazines is completely ignorant.

nta, but, the point being that censorship has gotten worse in the past few years, not that censorship is new.

It's simply a downward spiral. They keep tightening the screws as long as they can.
Artists choose to comply and reduce problematic content and eventually the rules will just get tightened even further. They've got to get their money from somewhere, the doujin market isn't big enough to fit everybody.

That's Young Jump and to a lesser degree Jump SQ.
Jump+ is just one of their web manga sites/apps where you can read Jump manga and original series by viewing ads.

It's not limited to ongoing series. Older ones can have censorship applied retro-actively or get taken down entirely.
Try buying digital versions of older eromanga and you'll see many valid complains about extended censorship.

Okay, so while it's still not good, it was one outlet. I remember there was an issue with actual censor bars on the Jump app.

If anything, it kickstarted people into finally paying attention to the VISA/Mastercard problem. Asia in general has started to adopt Q4 payments and there are multiple platforms where they simply cut off those credit cards for adult purchases and use points or their own national card.

>>280715094
This. It's just a matter of where you release it and the right staff. There are plenty of other publications that let authors get away with more.

>it was one outlet.
It's all apps that let you read manga chapters by viewing ads. It's a huge part of the market these days.
Foreigners complained about the global Manga UP! being censored and completely ignored that the Japanese one has the same issues.
The president of KADOKAWA tried to find a solution for the mess and get the manga industry find a common ground against power of Apple/Google and instead people just bashed him for wanting to censor manga. He took a pay cut, everybody cheered and the actual situation hasn't improved one bit.

How else do you buy eromanga from outside of Japan? Importing is another can of worms and many of those works are out of print for a long time.
