I'm not sure if baing jaded is the issue here, it's just that the author is trying really hard to not fall into the usual romcom tropes as a way to write a more serious story but they kinda overcompensated and ended up writing somethig that feels even more artificial than the usual slop and it didn't even fixed some of the worst issues with common romcoms like MC supossedly being a loser and a mob but actually being a misunderstood chad or the girl being completely perfect yet having some random issue that MC can fix by just being nice to her
