Many young people never feel the pressure to take risks on adult-orientated content. This is an unintended consequence of nerd culture promoting the idea that kid shows are just as mature. Despite this, these young people have a yearning for deeper stories. Instead of graduating to seinen, they make wild theories for their kids media like One Piece and MHA. They shoehorn dark, seinen-style concepts that are completely off tonally into their theories. When they could've just graduated to reading seinen instead if they didn't get memed. I saw a theory saying Zoro is Luffy's psychopathic attack dog who has plans to kill the other Strawhats if Luffy gives the order. Which has the same vibe as the fanmade Gear 5.

I read seinen manga like Hidamari Sketch and Gochiusa. Mature manga for mature readers such as myself.

Shounen is for children. Seinen is for manchildren.

You read classic lit in high school though. I'm sure you mean especially dry stuff though where less stuff happens than in the average slice of life manga.
