A very real point that people don't acknowledge is that cel anime was made for SD CRT television. The current day digitized and subsequent HD remasters that expose the grain and grungy broken black lines that evokes the aesthetic that people are chasing after, is an anachronism. It's like modern pixel art games having too many colors, too much movement, or too many instruments/sounds playing at once.

It can be done. You see pastiche of cel anime mostly in advertisements where boomer shit like Gundam or Dragonball is recreated to sell smartphone apps to legitimately old people.

Yeah basically none of the cel stuff needs to actually be recreated. You just need modern anime with better background art, better framing, and better use of color in the digital cels. Otherwise modern anime is already superiors in things like animation on average.
There is some interest in modern anime to fix the 2010's LMAO BLOW IT ALL OUT I LOVE WHITE so I've been enjoying that lately.
