It started off well, but it obviously wasn't popular enough to get two seasons as they probably planned, so it got a bit half-assed and was mostly just a joke towards the end.

You aren't alone. I started watching anime subbed around the start of 2014. I remember this show called D-Frag which was a comedy I really liked. I was 16 back then. Now at my 28 I look back and I wonder where that time went to. I feel like a fucking fossil and I'm not that old.
