Really, nobody is perfect, we all have our quirks, pros and cons, but people deakling with that kind of trauma, in an unhealthy way, its better to stay away from.

Yeah, I think I can fix a broken TV set, and yet, most likely, I dont have the tools neither the chops to do so. So fixing broken things is better left to the pros. I had seem many relationships because one of them (usually the woman) thinks they can fix their partner's problems.
Of all the characters you named, Ritsuko and Asuka are the most troubled ones, and you forgot Ritsuko's mom, the craziness runs on those genes yo!
