Animation is top notch, but honestly the stories aren't that great. Castle in the Sky and Nausicaa are probably the best, and the others are mediocre at best honestly.

Mononoke, Nausicaa, and Castle are phenomenal, some of the best movies Japan has ever made
Porco Rosso is great
Totoro and Ponyo aren't bad
The rest are whatever
Except Spirited Away which legitimately infuriates me for being as beloved as it is despite having story and characters about as interesting as a random Pokemon movie. If you claim the animation is enough to make it good you better tell me you love the Transformers movies because the effects are super duper pretty.

yes, and Princess Mononoke is unironically his best film

Normies can't differenciate the really good films from the mediocre ones. What's overrated is people thinking every movie is a masterpiece.

All Ghibli work is great. The writing is great; worldbuilding, themes, and characters complement each other. Most of them are morally grey round characters while not being nihilistic nor pessimistic. Even the antagonists are fleshed out. The animation is great since he cleverly uses limited animation without it feeling extremely cheap. His run cycles are 4 frames instead of 8 like your standard disney film.

Webm related looks like a rotating 3d background, but it is just two layer sliding left and two layers sliding right. IF it were done by other anime directors it would just have one sliding background layer or horrid looking CG that looks off.

The only criticism that I have for it is the English localization. They removed Joe Hisashi's synth+woodwind score and added a bunch of bombastic orchestral sounds in scenes that were meant to be quiet. If you liked Frieren, you should watch the Japanese version.

That said, you won't appreciate it greatly if you aren't an animator or filmmaker. They don't do fun stuff like Castle of Cagliostro

Only Totoro is good because it had naked uncensored loli ass and nipples
Nausicaa has nipples as well but only in the manga

Most of Miyazaki's movies deserve a lot of their praise. It's easy to take their quality for granted until you branch out and realize how many of them are batting way above average compared to other anime original movies. I say most because Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle both exist and get way more praise than ether of them deserve.

Factually untrue. His male antagonists are fleshed out, the ones who die are selfish to contrast with the male protagonists who aren't.

I've only watched a few Ghibli films, but Arrietty has been my favorite so far, mainly because I really like the source material and the movie was a pretty comfy adaptation.
Didn't care for Kiki's Delivery Service and Spirited Away was all right.

Sliding more than one cel is pretty intimately associated with some non Ghibli tv anime directors and not that uncommon in a film.
Along with other things like slides combined with camera pushes/zooms to fake depth.

The real hard thing to do by hand is to draw a real tracking shot. Kiki has a couple of those.

Nausicaa, Totoro and Mononoke are the only great film in the pic. Rest range from decent to forgettable. Miyazaki hasn't made a single great film in the 21st century.

Spirited Away follows the formula of a fairy tale. If you can't appreciate classic folklore, than of course it makes no sense. But most people DO appreciate it, which is why it's popular.

Howl was a good movie until the end, which sucked. The Witch of the Wastes just gave up on Howl, the missing prince just showed up, the warring countries just decided to stop fighting, and everything just solved itself instantly for no reason.

Probably the best Ghibli OST though.

Who cares what "normies" think, normalfag? Ghibli has the prestige it does for a reason, and neither the blind praise it gets nor the tired contrarianism that's spawned change that.
Dire lack of Takahata in your picrel btw.
