This is such a massive Zoro upscale out of nowhere. I don't know why Oda created the Shanks / Mihawk thing as if Luffy and Zoro were parallels in any fucking way, Luffy is always like a trillion steps ahead of Zoro in the powerscale since the gears got created.
It's a bit too late in the story for us to buy them being equals when Luffy in base will be Yonkou level AND THEN he goes Gear 2/4/5.
I guess Oda is rushing to patch this up with Zoro training his Conqueror's to also become a God tier in base? Not consistent with the rest of the series though

I take it if Shanks tried to fight him head on clashing swords he would lose, he'd have to come up with something else (no clue what that is).
Kinda like saying Kizaru / Aokiji obviously cannot beat Kaido / Garp in a brawl because that's their specialty, but in those cases we can easily guess they'd instead fight by using their devil fruit powers and Shanks has nothing like that.
Maybe Shanks forgoing his sword and fighting barefisted gives him a better chance against Mihawk...? No that sounds dumb, he'd lose his other arm. Perhaps Shanks could abuse his observation Haki and speed to run circles and do cheap shots, instead of engaging in a sword fight. It's still impressive that Mihawk is the ceiling at that and arguably both Shanks and Roger would lose if clashing directly with their weapons.

Isn't Mihawk supposed to be the sword guy? That's his whole thing. It wouldn't be weird for him to be a better swordsman than Shanks. It also doesn't mean Shanks is weaker than Mihawk or a bad swordsman.

That has literally never been true. If nothing else, Thriller Bark ending proved Zoro is stronger than Luffy. Zoro has accepted Luffy as his captain, so his will is weaker, which means a lot in One Piece, but ultimately those two are very close and have been since the start of the story.

Mihawk effectively became a Yonkou the second the Shichibukai was disbanded.
They just gave the title to Buggy so people wouldn't blame the WG for creating a new yonkou.
