All the Urusei Yatsura movies were either mediocre or forgettable - except for the fifth one, for obvious reasons.

I thought it was pretty well known in general the film is about screaming at Otaku to stop caring about Urusei Yatsura so much and to move on with their lives.

It's about how impostors could never live up to anything Oshii cooked up but the Rumiko brand was still strong enough at the time to convince viewers to pay for a movie ticket anyway.
