This anime is very weird with the age related jokes.

Yeah I'm getting that as well. The guy feels like he just dropped in from the 1900s and the girl seems to be of an age where she herself would've grown up with Pokemon. How the hell has she never heard of them? I wonder what year this is supposed to be taking place in, but they have modern smartphones so it has to be very recent.
