They're both mediocre as fuck stories from mediocre as fuck manga but if we isolate him as a director then yes he's fairly good. Just needs to pick better projects.

I don't respect a director until they have a hit original under their belt. Pic related, great adaptations canceled out by shit originals.

I liked Tengoku at the start but it feels like the author literally blew up the plot because he didn't know how to proceed.

Is Cinderella Gray really that good? I mean it's solid, for sure, but I don't think it can rank among the best of the last few years.

Fair enough. I still have high hopes for Saitou. Bocchi included a lot of creative liberties that worked really well which you wouldn't have expected from the standard adaptation.

Anime only or did you read it too? It ended at a weird spot because all anime only questions are answered within 10 chapters.

I think so. I've been following Uma Musume anime for years since s1 release and this is my favorite season so far. I think the humanization and characterization of the horsegirls and their unique personalities is something to be admired. I think the porting of real life into an anime and even the game stories makes for fantastic story telling. Oguri even being showcased as a character who's just dumb muscle still evokes really strong feelings with her words and attitude. I list it for now even with the redditsubs that I was stuck watching. Fansubs + blu ray animation will definitely send my mental score of this show to orbit.

I actually did read ahead a bit further into the manga before the anime aired. It just felt like the story lost all focus after the explosion. Never bothered to continue.

I like that at it's core it's telling 2 separate stories about the past and future and he leaves it up to the reader/ watcher to connect it. There's alot that's left unexplained directly and identities of Hiruko are pretty much never disclosed, leaving the audience to put it together. That's probably the aspect I like the most giving a small reward to people fickle on details.
