Do you prefer this over characters explaining the mechanics of their universe to another character who should already know them?

I'll take a narrator any day over what modern anime is. Adding 1 retarded character, or worse, adding a shitty isekai character so that there's someone to explain the power system is a cancer. It doesn't flow naturally 99% of the time.
