Joined the thread to late to comment on it during the dump but I'm on Osamu's side here. We as readers know he's making the wrong choice, but Azuma and Koala threatening Chika was a genuine risk. If I was him I'd probably assume that Azuma is giving the choice of what to do next to one of his boys and I could see them deciding they'd take the gamble on Chika than getting slowly flushed out. A strategy Azuma would then facilitate.
Though I'd probably handle it by moving Hyuse and Yuma about half back towards Chika and have Chika fire towards the far side of the mall to prevent Azuma squad from escaping if it was a bluff and basically forcing the confrontation.

I think you people overestimate Azuma a bit too much. He's an amazing combatant, maybe the best in Border besides Jin, but he's not gonna beat two A-Rank attackers at close range where he already has a disadvantage. No, he's already taken two teams all the way up to A-rank. The first disbanded and the agents went on to become A-rank captains themselves(before Ninomiya squad got demoted because of Hatohara). So yeah, he doesn't give a shit about rank. He's just there to train Koala and Okudera. The story is a bit vague on that. Technically they must have a fair number of agents not part of a squad, mainly in the non-Tamakoma branches. But the story doesn't really get into what happens when someone qualifies for B-rank and doesn't form or join a squad.

Osamu comes in contact with both Chika & Yuma on his own, having both of them around shifted the invasion from total massacre into a low casualties one, Osamu befriends Yuma and makes his relatively peaceful recruitment possible, Yuma removes Viza & blasts Hyrein but he also teaches Shun how to not be a retard and Shun used this knowledge to severely cripple Ranbanein, worst case for Tamakoma was Four-eyes death & Chika's capture, but absolute worst was civilian deaths & A-ranks getting yoinked yet just having Osamu there shifted these futures into low % group.
Viza is an Amo level threat and depending on compatibility Amo might get shredded immediately, without Yuma shit would have gotten very ugly.
From this point Osamu's personality comes out. This guy is mad; he disregards common sense, pushes his demands and will stand in front of a crowd of reporters pissing his agenda all over their crooked faces.
Jis sets Four eyes into a position to kick border in a direction and Osamu does it without a second thought, naturally it’s the one Jin would prefer.
Having Osamu around makes recruiting Hyuse possible, this might also have incredibly long lasting consequences as Hyuse is a big fucking deal.
We don't know what exactly Osamu will do on the other side to justify it, but if it has to be an Osamu, it will be the most brazen, shameless thing imaginable and it is something only he could do. Because despite his looks this guy is even bigger mental case than Kage & Katori combined.

On that note Miwa's fixing also happens because Osamu gets involved, Yuma gets a chance to show him the other side and Miwa begins a slow and painful journey to clear his head, which should dramatically affect his combat performance for the better.
The sheer amount of variables Osamu kicks with his mere presence is absurd, hell even Jackson only starts to wonder after he sees our trionlet in action, and only gets the chance to receive canadian consulting because Osamu recruits the fucking leaf.

That's not really accurate. Jin was weighing lives on the scale and decided that replica and osamu's potential deaths were worth risking by dangling Chika to Afto. He was perfectly capable of stowing Chika in a safe place and them never discovering the golden goose but the cost in abductions would have been greater with Viza/Hyuse/Hyrein focusing on the main objective.

Not necessarily. Remember there were three other factions on their own searches, and there's going to be some debate over whose "solution" to use. It's entirely possible that one of the factions finds a candidate equal to or better than Chika who might be selected instead. Meanwhile either way it'd still likely be a while before they put a new god in the trigger. Possibly years if for some reason they need or want to wait until the previous one dies.

That's a lot of leeway to get Chika back, even if the chances might be low. But Osamu dead means all futures that need him alive are cut off.

Osamu not meeting Yuma is an interesting alternate history. Yuma was aiming to talk to border higher up from the start, and without having to protect Osamu from trion soldiers he would draw less attention to himself, so it might be more peaceful than it was. Most likely they'd still fight and Yuma would eventually go down to the away mission squads. Probably. With replica his black trigger can create a fucking Rabbit which is meant to cost the equivalent of an entire trion army, so who knows what he could do. Maybe he'd summon a fleet of Illgar, crash them into HQ and kill everyone. Maybe he'd just Gate himself off to another dimension.

With Chika the question is whether her side effects would hide her from Aftokrator's scanners. They probably can, Afto was surprised when they got her readings after she shot, so Chika gets evacuated like a civilian and no-one ever finds out she's got God-tier trion. Without her blowing a hole in the base it's never reinforced, so it gets seriously damaged.

Osamu just dies to the Marmod. He'd try to stop it even if he'd never got into Border. His tombstone reads "Here lies Four-eyes. He never scored."

And if one of Hyrein's rivals finds someone with better trion than even Chika, that person will become the new god, and Chika will be fine for years. Jin can probably see that if Chika got taken there was a non-zero possibility of her being saved. So he'd he wouldn't think that's the worst case scenario compared to Osamu being outright just fucking dead, ending al his futures.
