Being aimed at kids doesn't mean it has to be dumb
What the Toei writes in the anime is dumb, cartoonish, flanderized, exaggerated, overindulgent. What Toriyama writes is surprisingly down to Earth, tight and efficient (dialogues are pretty solid and the characters not knowing everything the narration knows is a really nice touch).
I don't know why I bother trying to explain things that should really be obvious at a glance. You could literally just pick an episode from Z, even one that doesn't have obvious filler and just adapts parts of an existing fight, and you'd see stupid shit. You'd see Toei adding retarded effects all over the place like jingling keys for kids as opposed to the manga being far more respectful of the reader's intelligence.
You'd also see how obviously bad the writing for a fanfiction like Multiverse is compared to even something bad like GT/Super/Daima or whatever because Multiverse barely registers as a story.
