Part of it is that /a/'s activity has fallen off a cliff since S3, to the point where barely anything outside of the Weekly Jump lineup can sustain discussion anymore. But also Osomatsu-san seems to have one of the most jaded and negative fanbases around. Lots of "genwunners" who are just fans of their own nostalgia for S1, not the series itself. You have people acting like S2 was the worst thing that ever happened to anime as a medium because Dayon and Dekapan got a couple more minutes of screentime than they would have liked. Now people are bitching about S4 having some slower, moodier episodes early on like the other three seasons didn't have those kinds of episodes too. A lot of this crowd dropped the series years ago.

Because it sucks ass. Osomatsu-san is the Family Guy of anime. Used to be good, is now near unwatchable and extremely unfunny. What little good it still had (OPs and EDs) are now as shit as the rest of it.

I love this show more than anything else on earth, it makes me very sad the generals are so slow. There isn’t much discussion of the show on Twitter or tumblr or pixiv either. Depressing.

Yeah, it's really really dead in the West now. I don't usually care about MAL stats, but according to them 5.2k users are watching Osomatsu S4 (3.7k are watching the new Bouei-bu.)
For comparison 8.5k are watching Karaoke Iko (which aired its first ep today), 12k are watching Fermat no Ryouri, 14k are watching Turkey! (the bowling anime), 15k Dekin no Mogura, 39k Reincarnated As A Fucking Vending Machine S2, 64k Rent-A-Fucking-Girlfriend S4... To say nothing of actually popular seasonals (Hikaru ga Shinda is at 144k)
The previous seasons of Osomatsu S3 had 178k, 56k, 24k members.

Osomatsu always had some gross-out humor but S2 took it to a new level that put me off. It was openly disrespecting the audience and making the audience the subject of mockery. None of the jokes were funny; they were just bad-natured. The whole vibe of the anime was completely different, very oppressive and negative compared to the light-hearted and cute first season. Felt like a totally different team was behind the wheel, and I decided I was NOT there for it.
So naturally, I wouldn't watch S3 or S4 either, after skipping S2.
