I think my least favorite type of character is the one who takes nothing in their life seriously, has no discipline in any domain, and yet is miraculously the universe’s greatest warrior. This character seems to be in nearly every franchise now.

Our culture’s cynicism in all things forgot you actually have to care about things like training, or a cause, or something.

"Characters" like that only exist in shounenshit and LNshit. Grow up beyond media for 10 year olds and this problem vanishes.

There is an entire episode about her being the student of the greatest human mage to have ever lived, another that points out that the greatest attack spell in humanities arsenal was recently reverse engineered from demon magic by her. She is constantly hunting and practicing new magic so much so that it is a running theme that she excepts new spells for labor. Do you need some Eye of the Tiger playing in the background?

Besides having a thousand years of experience behind her belt she only speaks on subjects when she knows what she is talking about, when she doesn't know she listens and asks questions, though I get why some people here would think that is some sort of unreasonable superpower.

She mentions that she's lost in combat to 11 opponents with less Mana than her in the past including Macht, in the present she loses to Solitar and gets her ass pulled out of the fire by Fern. When her group defeats a Shadow Warrior it is very clear that she would have lost if it wasn't 3 on 1. Frieren is by design one of the heavyweights of this world but it makes it clear that she is still vulnerable.

Look it's a fair assesment that Frieren hasn't lost a fight on screen. Please don't be pedantic and bring op clone!Frieren. There is no reason to bring up that she lost at least 11 fights in the last 1000 years or so. Frieren is obviously overpowered in the setting, sure there are some characters that have a fighting chance and she can be overwhelmed with numbers or whatever, but all these minor exceptions do (Lernen, the strongest human mage in the mage association, has a fighting chance) is further emphasise that Frieren is in fact strong.

Outside her aura shit the only "hard" magic she's learned is flight. The anime and manga go out of their way to explain that she is just a basic bitch that spent every waking moment of her life practicing tricking demons and ignoring complicated antics.

Does she need too? The story(as far as the anime has gotten) has not introduced a threat that can counter Frieren except for her clone whom was the seasons final boss... and that Flower, good thing Sein was there. They state right from the start that she is one of the great heroes of the world and ancient. Is the story supposed to be a weak little hatchling.
The real threats to Frieren(besides her clone) come in season 2. Solitar will be an absolute menace next season and I am looking forward to seeing Frieren struggle against her, especially with how much more effort the anime puts into fights.

She's shown training Fern. Why would she need to practice herself? She is literally a master mage, she has 1,000 years of practice under her belt and has thrown down with thousands of demons, so much so that the title of the show is nickname that gives them worry. No one complains about Gandalf not having a training scene. No one finds it hard to believe that Dumbledore can fight because we don't get a scene of him practicing wand movements. Why does Frieren get this disrespect?

Her master was insanely strong even as a human and her master's master was Serie who is a crusty old elf who spent her entire life getting stronger.
Frieren isn't even autistic, she's just a Tolkien inspired elf who doesn't give much of a shit about mortal races because she'll outlive them endlessly. Frieren also makes Fern incredibly strong over a 10 year period, and she has been training this way for 1000 years.
