I am rewatching Oreimo once again and I forgot how loathsome Kyousuke is. Imagine rejecting two nice girls for your own sister. I thought his mom was overreacting when she kicked him out several episodes back but she could smell it on him; the smell of an imouto fucker in the making.

Kirino is a total bitch to Kyouske like 95% of the time prior to about halfway through season 2. It makes no sense for him to be a siscon at the time he declares it (Kirino's race with Rina).

I can believe that, I still need to get around to playing the VN. But I think the anime would've been a lot better if Kyouske got with Kuroneko while Kirino was a bitch, and it was the realization that she might lose her brother that made Kirino start to be nicer. Then, Kyouske would realize just how much he loves his sister and leave Kuroneko for her. It'd have made the whole "I am a siscon" moment actually matter. In the anime, it just kinda happens

I watched the anime and didn't know there was a true ending OVA until years later.
I genuinely thought kuroneko just accepted that he's weird about his sister and that was the end of it.
The OVA came out of left field for me somehow despite the show's title because they just had zero chemistry for the whole show.

Oreimo’s central premise is that the imouto is the most attractive. However, this conflicts with harem trope law of the main girl being the 2nd most attractive. So, the writer compromised by making the imouto tied for 1st with Ayase, who is basically black-hair Kirino but socially safe — this is required in a harem because the main girl has to face a serious challenge in the final arc, and since appearance is everything, only the most attractive girl can normally fulfill the role of the final boss. But….that’s Ayase, not Kuroneko. The other harem girls are always less attractive then the main girl so therefore there is no possibility of the main guy getting with them. That’s just the way this awful LN romance genre works.

The thing that got me was that Kuroneko was willing to go so low as to be his sidefuck but he still told her to fuck off. No sane man would turn that shit down.

She flip flops a lot during the story. It's pretty clear she was planning to ask him out behind the school while Kirino was in America, before he got the text from Kirino, but then she backs off. Shortly before she does eventually ask him out she says she's "never felt so conflicted". Her destiny record begins with her fantasies, then an expression of despair, then her "ideal world" which is Kyousuke and Kirino together. Then later on after the hot spring confrontation she adds herself back into the picture, and pursues him in the hope him and Kirino will resolve their feelings. Near the end she states she's still pursuing him but at that point she realises that she's already lost.
