the point of stories is usually to touch base with the readers with a compelling story that preaches some sort of message or delivery. I'm sorry that makes you upset, if it's just "le dark gritty with le funny gyoza memes" then that's fine, but in that case how is it superior to csm which has some literary depth?

The main message of Dorohedoro is unironically the power of friendship.

Maybe something about genocide and corrupt government systems etc etc.

BASED I love Dorohedoro and I'm reading Dai Dark as it comes out and it really surpassed Berserk for me, more so with the current state of Berserk and it's fandom. Really, is there anything out there like Dorohedoro other than Dai Dark? Even Dai Dark doesn't hit the same. I've tried Fire Punch, read Franken Fran, and those were close. So far the closest really has been "Witch Hat Atelier" but that's only because it's the other side of Dorohedoro's coin to the point it's rather humorous. Dungeon Meshi is up there too. But Dorohedoro for me still remains my favorite.

"Muh stakes" is such a tired argument. Killing characters is cheap drama that is just an easy way to elicit emotion from retarded children. And Dorohedoro is far from the only manga where characters are essentially immortal, and the story revolves around that fact. Plus it lets there be extreme body horror that you couldn't do as easily if your characters had to worry about dying.

It's similar dynamics in reverse. Dorohedoro is dark and disturbing on on the surface but deep down it's a dark comedy with characters doing funny things. Witch Hat Atelier is like that but reverse, where it's bright and cheery on the surface but deep down it's disturbing as shit. Both explore the ramification of magic and how weird magic can get. Both series focus on the relationship between sorcerers and witches respectfully as well as their culture and society that typical humans don't know about. Witches in WHA claim to be born special, but this is a lie to tightly control magic and prevent it being used from the common man. Dorohedoro sorcerers ARE born special, and instead of caring almost too much about the human world and having all these rules and regulations, sorcerers thrive in chaos and don't give a shit what happens to humans, a sentiment similar to some witches. Both also really deal in worlds ravaged by magic for decades if not centuries. Both have a big focus on eating food, animal mascots etc. Both series have their "villains" but you can see the perspectives of many sides. Lots of cool ways how magic is used in daily life with inventions and machines and such. Another big thing is the extremely similar ways characters are constructed where they're very deep. Again at first glance they seem completely different but they're very similar at their cores, but how they differ is just as interesting. It's like it's from the same components and themes but reassembled with a different coat of paint.

It's about growing up and recognizing what are the truly important things in life, which throughout the story is implied to be the ability to make real connections with other people. It is why the En Family was never depicted as pure antagonists, because despite everything it is easy to see that they do have a real bond with each other.

In the first place, everything gradually went to shit because Ai Coleman wanted to be a magic user thinking it will magically fix all of his problems with being born a Hole inhabitant. His real issue is extreme self-loathing. And then we are shown that Aikawa, his more mentally stable personality who actually gets to live in the magic user world, ended up just being a bum who does nothing other than goofing around all day, while the other personality is a personification of Hole itself. It can be taken to mean that Ai never actually escaped the Hole, so to speak, and the one guy he made a real connection with was killed by his own hands, again because of the Hole.

Even Chidaruma, who is practically the main source of all the conflict in the story, is depicted as a bored autist with no real friends who does nothing other than the equivalent of an omniscient being fucking around and finding out. That's why he tried to befriend Hole-kun and also why the other devils turned him into a human in the end, with the implication that a much shorter lifespan and no powers will finally teach him the true value of genuine social connections.

Sp Gen Z is now begging stories to preach to them and beat them over the head with their messaging. You know, maybe those media literacy memes have a point if this is what's to come. Just dumbing down stories until they're samey mush and ever the biggest retard gets them, even when it's made with adults in mind. Grim.

There is such a thing as overanalyzation when tryhards like you actively gate themselves off from having fun and engaging with any given story because of muh themes and muh morals. Writing is capable of much more than you give it credit for. And using Tolstoy in an argument only makes you look like an ever bigger underage tryhard that wants to sound sophisticated so badly.

Overanalyzing works both ways, fags not only use it in the way you described but also to defend pieces of hackwork by retarded theorycrafting to make it seem as if an author planned everything perfectly and certain holes in the narrative are intentional, when pretty much every single time it's actually just a run of the mill unresolved plot point because the author forgot or decided to just abandon it altogether.
