You can't deny as outlandish some of the changes made were and obviously all the censorship the first adaptations are nonetheless responsible for many core elements of the overall franchise that are now considered cornerstones of the series. Plus the first anime had an objectively better ending.

Too many. But I usually don't expect much from any adaptation. Just certain scenes you look forward to for so long only to for them to get brushed over with a low effort shot or skipped entirely.
