After 2011 everything went down because of the gradual surge in popularity and the spike in 2020 due to COVID lockdown.
2012 with SAO
2013 with Shingeki no Kyojin
2016 with Hero Academia
2019 with Kimetsu no Yaiba
2020 - COVID lockdown and then people who are stuck at home watch anime on Netflix or Crunchyroll
And then we got Jujutsu Kaisen, Chinsawman, Spy x Family, Frieren etc etc in the following years. Also, One Piece that used to be the punching bag among Big 3 outside of Japan is everywhere now in the US, especially LA and Las Vegas.

This is the the biggest indicator of them all to me that the anime landscape is truly irredeemable at this point. One Piece was, and still is hot garbage, but with the huge surge in media refugees flooding to anime because everything else has gotten so bad, the bar has dropped so low that One Piece is unironically being called peak anime by people now.

I remember trying hard to get other anime fans into One Piece but fucking nobody wanted to watch that. Even Bleach to some extent. Makes me even madder knowing that every canceled show and manga in the past probably would have did much better if it was produced today. Probably even better than the top shit today.
