Most shit now is uploaded in sketchy washed up version seen on the right of the pic. Even the good old artists now have their works posted in this abysmal quality. What's up with that?

The right side comes from an international licensor, the left side from an illegally uploaded scan.
The artist never sold the Japanese version digitally.

Incompetent raw scanners and scan group editors.
But you should be thankful we get anything physical scanned at all though. There's some much good shit from comiket which will never be accessible outside of Japan because the people wont scan them.

Most sites just reupload from each other. The hosts have nothing to do with a low quality raw getting scanned.

Most non-derived works get a digital release these days. It's mainly parodies that don't because the artists don't want to make big bucks with other peoples' work.
