manga are rarely axed at short notice and typically how long they get is how long it'll take until the manga replacing theirs has been properly hooked up to the production pipeline and will be ready for a regular release schedule

I really think it was meant to be axed earlier, but Oda took a hiatus for eye surgery and Black Cloverโ€™s author had his daughter fall Iโ€™ll so he took a break to be with her, and that left Jump to keep the stuff they had a little longer.

there's one moment in a few chapters that's the most "i was axed but they need more padding due to oda and tabata going on hiatus so i made up some bullshit" i've ever seen from a manga. you can't tell me with a straight face the manga wasn't axed and just had to go on a little longer after reading it

i think for me it failed by not being clear what it was gonna be about by chapter 2, we spent the first three or so chapters wondering exactly what the plot was gonna be.
that doesn't seem like a strong story

Luckily we can take a look at our trusty Bakuman to learn all about it.
Actually they don't talk about it too much, but generally short series, and especially axebait only get a few weeks to wrap it up.
It's also pretty easy to see in how abruptly so many of the series end.
While it could be that this was supposed to be axed and through some grace of god it had to be delayed like others said, it could be that he got the warning that the series is doing like shit, so he tried to switch it up or prepare for the inevitable chop.

I think the funniest axe ending I saw was in Fabricant 100 where the final villain literally just knocks on the MC's front door to fight him

yeah, frankly i knew it was a goner when it introduced the anti-fabricant glowies. it was just too weird given there's allegedly only 100 fabricants in total and a lot of them are already dead by the start of the series, so why would an organization exist to fight them? it just felt out of nowhere and was unneeded. i would've just played on "there are humans with weird powers", after all the protagonist is already nigh immortal and it's treated as something normal by the people a la "oh yeah, his family is long lived".

at least the actual ending was kino

We joke about axe bait with "potential" but Fabricant was absolutely one of those. But yeah the anti-Fabricant faction was a mistake, the series works better as a monster of the week sort of thing

fabricant so far was the most "i wanna see this guy's next work" axebait. dude clearly has talent, he just needs to refine it and trust his instincts a bit more (i feel like the anti fabricant faction was an editor suggestion).
are you talking about the fabricant who adopts children and doesn't understand why they love him even if he explicitely just grooms them to graft their body parts? that was great.
also the ending, it worked so well in being a good moment for 100 herself and also stick to the "fabricants don't have empathy and don't understand emotions" plot point. a hack writer would've made them develop feelings but they never did

Different Anon but that was a damn good arc, same with the proceeding one with the singer. Both did a good job highlighting the mentality of Fabricants including 100 and exactly why despite everything she can't be fully trusted. I'm glad the author commited with that line all the way to the end

If this was a better manga, this would be a decent cliffhanger and moral choice.
Either let your wife die in space, or rob your son of 10 of his formative years.
