What kind of fuckass anime is so mismanaged it needs a recap episode 4 episodes in?

I've been on 4chan since 2008. I don't remember the last time I've seen an anime shit out a cast commentary recap episode, let alone a recap episode 4 episodes in to a what, 12 episode run? I don't recall any natural disasters or upsets that would cause the delay, everything else aired normally this week, so I'm asking what the fucking deal is here.

Were you around a few years ago, when the flu hit China hard and all of the outsourcing came back SUPER late, so a ton of shows had to do sudden recap episodes? I don't remember if any were extreme enough to have episode 4 recaps, but some did at episode 6.

Remember most anime aren't made with episode 1-12 done and ready to air. This is the industry standard and not just because they\re poor or something. One delay adds to another and with enough of them stacked up you end up with the dire choice of releasing QUALITY or skipping a week/recap. If it's bad enough you end up with really garbage circumstances like Zom100 where they had to air the last 3 episodes months later. Or the cases of Regalia and Our Last Crusade s2 where the production was so fucked that they just stopped airing and went okay we'll take time to fix this and air later.

It's only memorable when production collapses and they end up airing incomplete nonsense and delaying the end to another season, like Marchen Madchen. That's what mismanagement looks like.

Since we have proper subs on time, I suspect this recap was planned from the start. The VAs said they still have to do dubbing, so could be the whole production was planned in this way. Let’s see how the animation is later on.

This is unfortunately accurate for most studios. There are a couple that don't do this though. KyoAni gets a show done before it starts to air. Or at least they did before the fire. Not sure if they still do that.
