first 5 episodes are crazy fast pace, covering close to 130-150 chapters of the novel(almost 70% of book 1), and cutting around 30% of the non-essential plot (a lot of the worldbuilding and lore stuff)

this latest episode the pace got considerably better, and the animation is still at the same quality, and now that the obligatory donghua staple of introducing the setting instead of a having a plot is done(or in some cases speedrunning the part where the author was a hack with cool ideas), the proper story can start

Webcomic? There were 2. One got axed (and I read stuff about it being "fanmade" but others say it was official, I don't know which is true) while the other (which is definitely official) has only just started and barely has any content to judge whether or not it "leaves out stuff" but I like the new manhua very much.
As for the donghua, tencent forced it to reach the clown fight by episode 3, so the first few episodes were quite rushed, but they are changing the order of events in order to cover what they skipped. They also use an "event-based structure" where the story-arcs are more clustered together instead of having the constant switchero between different sub-arcs that happened in the novel.
