Remember that people didn't know the black coloring actually meant armament Haki was being used until Punk Hazard when Vergo went full body Haki. Before that a lot of people just thought Luffy's arms going black was him "vulcanizing" and hardening his rubber with Haki, not that it was just the go to way to portray someone using Haki in general. Oda didn't give color to armament Haki at all until the time-skip when Luffy first used it to punch the Kraken. I think.

the thing that always confused me about seastone bullets, at least in regards to Luffy, is that they shouldn't behave different than normal bullets. It was already shown that his body is permanently rubber, seawater doesn't negate this, it just makes him weak

It's honestly a plothole. Skypeia know how it's formed, it's never dealt with if they carve it or not, but for some reason seastone skates a thing many jaya'n have.

Like this is all just set up for what happens with Oden and people still foam at the mouth. I don't understand them. Oden's ultimately a failure, he fucked up, even after his larger than life escapades. Wano DOES drag, character/enemy bloat where it really wasn't used to the fullest, so for me it's the battle aspect in A3 that drags it down, not the character/setting stuff.

In this re-read, i'm noticing a lot of stuff in ARC 2 happens off screen or said in passing

Zoro Sword getting stolen
Kidd scapping prison
Law's crew getting captured
And now, Yasu getting captured

Reading daily you can follow alright, but i remember reading weekly (and with Oda taking a break every 3-4 weeks) it was pain to keep track of all what's happening

I think Oda was antecipating ARC 3 was going to be huge and was trying to tell ARC 2 story as eficient and quickly as possible

I think Yasu is a pretty good character and this was done pretty well, but I remember why I didn't care too much when reading this as it came out and it's the same problem I had all the way back in Dressrosa. One Piece has gone on too long. It's just the same thing each time. Yes, these characters can be good, they can have sad things happen to them, but it's tough for me to really care that much arc after arc. We're 1000 chapters in and we've seen this same sort of thing happen for a dozen arcs previously. And it's not something that really revolves around or has anything to do with our main characters. The Straw Hats who we already know and love. Yeah Zoro is there and he's upset but he barely even knew these people.

Following One Piece for so many years it's impossible for me to keep feeling sad for so many oppressed countries and people they visit.
