People say it all the time tongue-in-cheek, and ryoukai has similar tongue-in-cheek implications when used in a casual conversation.

No, not at all in most cases. In OP's case a simple "got it" would've sufficed.

Here's what going on itt. Basically there a bunch of "cool fiction words" you see all the time in animu and mango that aren't really used all that often irl so weebs that are learning nip tend to get a wrong idea what connotation they have and how they actually come off. Anon is textbook example of that. He's making a big deal out what he believes is an unnatural translation when in reality it's fine and his suggestions aren't the straightforward improvement he thinks they are.

They're not saying, "Roger." They're saying, "Ryoukai," which TRANSLATES as "Roger." Amazingly enough, speech patterns and slang are different in different countries, anon.

Sometimes I get bored of saying "okay" or "got it". Affirmative is another fun way of switching it up.
Are you guys telling me you never use fanciful language ever for the fun of it?

This is like complaining that "nobody ever says 'salutations'" when people do because they're being cheeky. This place hates fun.
