Literally a Tokyopop speedrun. Only missing the egotistical retard CEO who insists his own garbage is good enough to publish alongside the real licensed works.

Outside of Apothecary Diaries and Gushing over Magical Girls are they even relevant anymore? Gushing probably won't even finish due to Ononaka's health issues.

I don't see an issue with that. There was a thriving pulp fiction market in the West from around 1840 to around 1960.

Frankly, these guys were genuinely alright a few years ago, but the stuff they've been grabbing lately has been pure shit and trash. The July announcements were all really, really, really bad.... that's coming from me, someone who normally gives everything a shot and tries to keep an open mind. On the other hand, Yen Press has been doing pretty well, and SevenSeas so-so, sometimes great, many times not.

>Guild Handyman? More like Mastermind! Using My Hidden Skills in the Shadows
>Flung into a New World? Time to Lift the 200-Year Curse!
>The Accursed Chef and His Pair of Furry Foodies
Seriously...? What happened?

Did they fire the guy who actually examined user suggestions or was capable of picking cool stuff? Where's the kino? When will Sam re-examine his policy of 'has to be new and shiny' and extend his acquisitions to stuff older than 5/10 years?
It's sad. They've become too obsessed targeting stuff receiving upcoming anime adaptations, and have abandoned their initial spirit of venturing out and translating whatever. Worse yet, they don't fully translate things either, leaving sequels/spinoffs et al behind, specially for legacy stuff. It's amazing how Yen Press is better than them in that respect now.
Also, OP, only SS will translate Atelier Tanaka/Nishino/Shimoneta since they're actually based.

There just isn't a big enough market for readers, period. I work at a library and we have experimented with carrying light novels, our patrons go through manga and YA novels like air but the translated light novels don't circulate at all. I think a lot of people that like YA books are turned off by the anime art on the covers and assume it will be stupid shit and the people that like anime/manga don't actually like prose.

If I ran a company and I can see Gay Bullshit sells faster than Isekai or standard anime stuff. I'd pander to gays more.

Let's face it anime/manga fans pirate their bullshit off mangafire, batoto, nyaa, nhentai and never buy anything. You can pirate the entire catalog of J-Novel Club off nyaa or some other websites set up by English speaking anime/manga "fans"

pretty sure there's exactly 2 chinese 2 filipino that were in charge of looking at User suggestion and approving 90 percent of them until 2021, and all those four motherfucker must have been laid off at some point. So many Yaoi/BL on Seven Seas Entertainment releases.

Kadokawa acquired JNC. Now it's a quantity over quality approach.
