I become unreasonably upset when MC has a childhood friend who hasn't been in his life for years and yet he always chooses her over the girl who he met in school that liked him and spent years of effort showing her appreciation for him.
Childhood friends should always lose, this is just nepotism. The girl who puts in real work trying to win the protagonist deserves him.
