Why aren't you watching Hikaru ga shinda natsu with japanese subs? Not only is a great show but the dialogue isn't complicated at all so it's good practice

Isn't the point in learning japanese so that you don't have to look at the bottom of the screen to read subtitles? It's nice to have them in case there are words I don't know and I can't tell which of several homophones is being used, but I'd much prefer to keep them off.
>>281145414 how do I know by "a lot of JP learners" you mean the Anki autists who refuse to speak or write and are completely lost watching anything that isn't anime?
>>281145469 That's just what I hear from JP learning communities on 4chan, Reddit, and the like. What's wrong with Anki exactly? I agree with you that refusing to speak or do writing practice, or even to immerse in JP material immediately like some Ankidrones do is counter-productive. But Anki seems pretty invaluable if you want to cement certain words in longterm memory.
>>281139777 (OP) Where can I find current season subs in general? I see screenshots all the time but when I look on nyaa it's only raw without subs. Do I have to look for some TV broadcast?
>>281145562 if you're talking about the technology of spaced repetition software then basically every commercial learning program already has that now and with better lesson plans than "the 2000 most common words used in newspapers"
>>281145905 I don't know about you, but I'm not forking out the money. Also, I'm pretty sure mining decks are where it's at, not premade decks full of frequent newspaper words.
>>281146017 that's a great plan if you want to know every word of your favorite manga by heart, but not very useful if you're trying to learn a language
>>281145905 You can use any deck for Anki. You're not limited to the 2000 most common words used in newspapers. I don't use Anki though because I don't like the feeling of being forced to continue the practice. Though I understand that's what helps with the learning.

>>281146201 >that's a great plan if you want to know every word of your favorite manga by heart, but not very useful if you're trying to learn a language Can you back this up? You can only really say this after having determined the efficacy (or lack thereof) of Anki and mining decks.
