I think the author couldn't decide on the tone of the manga early on so she tried he yandere baiting and then the harem before deciding what she actually wanted to write was about MC worrying about ending up as a teen parent, Kubo-san had a similar problem early on where it was clearly a Takagi rip-off before the author decided to write something else and the story ended up being dragged down by the initial setting
