Hell yeah it does. If you lived Hunter x hunter you’ll most likely love yu yu hakusho as well.

Plot is worse. Characters are better.

All HxH has over it is Hisoka.

Yuyu is more enjoyable over all but HxH has better high points but worse low points.

One of the best of the best, even in spite of the lackluster final arc. Additionally one of the best dubs of all time.

Nen is one of the best systems for powerscaling debates, but YYH powers were aesthetically cool. They also had more consistent group dynamics throughout the series, you could make a case for the drama being more varied in an arc. The gritty animation holds up, and the OST is pretty standout.

After a recent rewatch, I found that the end of Chapter Black still pisses me off, but Three Kings wasn't that terrible, despite never reaching the high standard set by the rest of YYH.

At least it got an ending unlike HxH which will end with Togashi's death from old age.

I remember it being better than it was.
The manga is paced weirdly
The anime is actually somewhat better, the characterization in the manga doesn't build up a lot of moments
Kurama and Heiei especially seem to be really one note in the manga and their fights end up somehow being really lame after they become friends

HxH is a great manga and a masterful anime
Yu yu Hakusho is an Ok manga and a great Anime

[Kuraze] Yu Yu Hakusho The Movie - Poltergeist Report (BD 1080p HEVC FLAC AC3) [BEBD3D67].mkv_snapshot_00.15.56.705

Oh boy, time for me to gush about the second movie:
I loved the major villains, Kuronue's design is basically a fusion of what would later become Yomi's backstory in the last arc + Karasu's aesthetic in the preceding one making him the ideal opponent for Kurama.
Likewise, Raigo having a natural jagan was a great counterpart to Hiei.
Speaking of counterparts, Majari's mirror power made for a great gimmick fight vs. Kuwabara.
Taking the counterpart theming further, the film's main macguffin, the Power Sphere, was basically an evil version of Genkai's Spirit Wave Orb right up to both having to be taken into the bodies of Yusuke & Botan respectively of the cost of nearly killing them.

The film also really put Botan through hell in ways the main series never did (struck by lightning, drowned, and tortured by a ball of distilled human hatred), also Yukina. Keiko, & Genkai all got wrecked. Gender equality shounen film.
Also around ~15 minutes there's a small animator gag of a salaryman checking out of woman he passes on the street only for in the next second and explosion to knock his toupee off and give deliver a one-frame panty shot just cuz.

The movie also got brownie points from me for having the fucking balls to brink back full-green demonic Hiei that Togashi never did when he got popular. There's a newer subbed version that was just put on Nyaa with better subs than the old CPM script since Funimation never got around to doing it themselves.

Because they didn't spend 90% of it apart.

HxH already has an ending, everything after that is trying to tie up Kurapika and the troupe.
