Well, in the books, Rudeus just consistently failed to do any impressive athletic feat, and tried out all things, so Badigadi surmises that Rudeus is one of those few cripples in the world who can't ever manage to gain a battle aura, no matter what they do.
Plus Orsted also confirms that Rudeus is going to be one of the unlucky ones unable to form a battle aura.
