On one hand, it has crazy action, lots of twists, high impact emotional moments and a lot of "aura farming", but like another anon pointed out, maybe people today would be turned off by all the erotic stuff, also all the rape... and the black face... and the mass shooting... and highschool kids getting massacred
There will always be people that like edgy stuff and I think the culture is again becoming a little more accepting of edgier stuff (the pendulum never stops going back and forth) but Gantz really pushed it to the limit

Certainly, just give it a proper adaptation, it's weird and unique and still has something to appeal to everyone.
It'd probably do much better in anime format since Oku likes to make whole chapters to showcase some things (like the last storytime for example) which likely pissed off a lot of people back when the manga was still serialized and you had to wait for the next chapter just to get literally nothing, anime would probably be able to tell the whole story with 2x25 seasons without cutting anything

The first "soldiers" were more like pest control. Those buzzsaws are just them pretty much clearing the space for the actual soldiers to come in. Later in the story we see the giant aliens treating humans like small pets or just chasing them like rats.

Usual Oku pacing issues and it doesn't really deliver on the "people voting for their world to go to shit" potential in the story (even if that does literally happen) but I liked it. It's more primarily about a schoolkid having a relationship with a cute as hell porn star than it is about the kaiju fights.

Chiho is hot as hell and deserves to be animated.
