this show honestly isn't bad, it's a solid 6-7/10 and enjoyable
but I honestly believe the anime aesthetic hampers it
in fact thats kind of what I feel about basically all chinese donghua, there's a mismatch between chinese aesthetic sensibilities and the aesthetic language built into anime as a style
the anime style just takes way too much from the japanese cultural milieu and their specific idiosyncracies that you can't divorce one from the other. Like how animating simpsons or bojack in anime style would work beyond one-off gags
tldr is basically that chinese people ought to develop their own unique animated style, cause I can't help but think of all donghua as bootleg anime. They managed to develop their own styles in film (I'm counting HK here, full disclosure) so I'm sure they can manage
