Current (and future generations most likely) don't understand the appeal of text based "social media". Most of 4chan's userbase grew up seeing a forum with inline images as borderline revolutionary compared to text forums that required html or bbs mark-up. Now everything in society has pivoted to videos so hard that even something like reddit with all its interactivity is considered borderline boomer shit.

This is a newfag question, but did 4chan always have catalog view? I remember coming here to lurk without feeling like I was a 4channer inthe 2000s and I thought everyone was using the default view which obviously would kill all the discord style circle jerk generals and mix up the board into a smear, but maybe I just didn't know about catalog then
