isayamas-artstyles-evolution-through-the-years-v0-mkfulk12d7ya1
Why did he took 15 years to go from unbelievably bad to just mediocre instead of going from unbelievably bad to good in terms of art skills and draftmanship?

There was some wonkiness early on, but it never really bothered me. It usually looked good enough when it โ€˜neededโ€™ to.

The one on the left looks nice, it's not as detailed but it has a cool style. I recently read the first four volumes of Attack on Titan and thought that for the most part the art looks pretty good.

Isayama's art was pretty bad in hindsight. Guy couldn't even draw women.

I'm convinced he only gave Mikasa this random ass scar to easily tell her apart from several other characters.

You can distinguish Historia from Armin by Historia's huge clear eyes and ponytail/long hair. Petra and Armin, though...

He only invested trickle amount of in the draftsmanship skill tree, most of it went to scene building and paneling

I think its a matter of when an artist becomes succesful
Isayama was not that good and a tight schedule plus the studio advising you on shortcuts doesnt exactly leave much time to train but rather it enforces bad artistic habits
look at oda, the dudes been drawing for over 20 years and OP panels got more and more convoluted and had less clear vision
