I havent reread SnK but I still remember monthly reading everything, 123 dropped and after the 30 days between 123 and 124 I was on cloud 9. Thought that I was in for an emotional ride and then everything just falls apart. The bonus chapter in the final volume shows paradis being bombed. So peace talks clearly didnt work and not following through with the rumbling resulted in the deaths of the people on the island. The one thing eren was concerned about, the future of his people, got destroyed. Why the fuck would anyone call this story good? On a first read up to 123 SnK is amazing once you get past that point, it falls apart.

One of the worst changes for sure was having the Founder’s powers affecting the other shifters too.
If the shifters were immune from the control of the founder (which would be credible since they all came from the very same power) the founder would be balanced enough to make sense:

Keeping it just to “can control the titans and the eldian normies” would’ve added well to the tragedy of the founder, where the godlike powers are very limited and Eren could use these only to move his super genocide weapon and without a proper control of it (like, he can just think he is moving the titans following specific paths, but not what the titans are destroying unless he is phisically present there)
