We literally could have skipped everything from the aquarium to the aging devil and it would have made no difference to the plot. Part 2 was always going to revolve around Yoru, and none of the chapter for 2 years straight moved the needle in that direction at all.

Reminder part two was supposed to be a quirky high school adventure before Yuko arc tanked the sales and Lin made Fujimoto pivot back to Denji centrism.
That's why the art became absolutely scuffed from Falling Devil Arc onwards, Fujimbo is/was absolutely done with this story and wanted to self-sabotage.
