Basically, the peace experiment failed in the New World due to mistrust of the white settlers when diseases started to run rampant. The Lnu went full war ready and tried to wipe out Thorfinn and the rest of them, but it ended in am agreement that Thorfinn and co leave with their lives. I'm still not sure how I feel about it.

the vinland that ended and the vinland we started off with are two completely separate stories. i think the the author just kinda fluked his success with planet. i don't think he knows how to write.
