Why do platonic friendships between boys and girls in anime and manga upset people so much? Not every interaction between two characters needs to lead to romance or marriage.

Then maybe write the romantic pairing to have a dynamic that is actually as good as the friendship one

It literally should. There's no point in men and women interacting if it doesn't lead to procreation.

People who think every deep M/F friendship needs to be romantic are just fujos for heterosexuals.

Ichigo is/was closer to Rukia than he was to his own sisters, and despite the fact that they never show romantic feelings in that sense towards one another at least in the way Kubo Tite portrayed it, it's not wrong for people to have seen the pairing as extremely close to a non-platonic relationship...

Natsu and Lucy is another pseudo-canon pairing that is written like that (but fairy tail is just bad at telling stories and character development).

This is clearly a romantic flag.

Romance really isn't the point. They just see Ichigo as a prize and they seethe at seeing Orihime succeed at all.
