And not some recap with unique animation or some shit, no, every single frame is reused from the OVA from start to finish. So what they want you to do is to watch episode 1-8 of the main series, stop right there and watch the OVA, and then continue with the main series. If you're uninformed and have no clue what's going on, well then you're fucked because you just had the entire OVA spoiled by the OP...
