How do you feel about the best living manga artist devoting his career to a parody?
If memory serves, Murata called this his dream project, so if he's happy then that's all that matters.
I'll say this: arc 1 of OPM is probably one of the best in all of manga. It's superb, tells a complete story, and has a satisfactory wrap-up. Everything else afterwards? Eh, I dropped this awhile back.
Indifferent. If he likes putting his skills into a parody then good for him, he's allowed to do what he likes.
On the contrary, both ONE and Murata take OPM very seriously, however one treats it as a serious work on heroism and society and how to find meaning in life, and the other treats it as an outlet for him to draw whatever chuunibyou scenarios come to his mind. Nobody is asking him to redraw all this stuff, definitely not the fans, nor the editors, nor the publishers. It’s what he wants to do, and who are we to deny his obsession with shoe-shaped men.
