I miss this guy like you wouldn't believe. He shines so brightly during HIS part he steals the show completely, it was *almost* a mystical experience reading Baki Dou.
I did enjoy the subsequent part, and I like the cast of Rikishi (soft spot for Oozeki), but it's not the same. I get the feeling Musashi arc was a brilliant flash of inspiration gone right. Something difficult to replicate

Hey anon I agree. Coolest character in the story and very clever way to keep intrigue after the father-son fight. Showing the difference between the fundamental mentality of a warrior who killed people for his daily bread and people who love combat as an art was inspired.

Musashi really was something else. It's probably for the best that he didn't stick around, they would have had to ruin his character for him to be a part of the gang. It's also to his benefit that this way he can't be turned into a jobber like what happened to Pickle.

Yeah, except childhood arc established best modern warriors that constantly kill other warriors (both in close combat and with guns) and fight + survive in hellish (jungle, deserts) conditions (which 'sashi never had to do), as nothing more than low-mid tier jobbers.
If we forget about that and pretend Gaia and his guys were just hiking enthusiasts then sure.
