I read the manga when it came out and didn't think much of it, it was just misery porn. The anime though will probably stay with me forever, it just shows how great animation, direction, music etc can overcome bad writing.

Takopi has VERY good writing. By far the best writing I've seen in anime lately. I am honestly curious what you think good writing is since you are such an authority on the subject. Takopi tells an extremely multifaceted story with natural and compelling dialogue, a tight time travel story with no logical consistency errors. I would, as someone who has consumed an incredibly wide range of media, say Takopi's writing is on par with the best HBO shows.

Most anime fans are so bad at analyzing writing quality that they can't tell My Hero Academia characters all sound like they're on the autism spectrum.
