>>281328842 (OP)Generally you go to anime conventions for the following in this order
>After-Parties>>>/cgl/, find the places, don't get raped.>Industry EventsThese can be a reason to go, but I don't think you should only go to ones with these events. The only time I've ever done that was NYCC's Dragon Ball Daima reveal back in 2022. Was it worth it? I fucking hate Americans so damn much.
>Artist Alley This is because it fan efforts are often pretty damn good. Last convention I went to I got a bunch of keychains and pins made by fans (I find them more fun to have than prints and posters). Sometimes you'll even see people making doujin plushes and figures, which is always cool.
Also really good if you want to commission something, lets you meet a lot of artists who you can get a name, face, and address from.
>GuestsUsually western conventions are shit for guests, but some of them can get some good picks- big one in Canada was Anime North getting the voice actors of Kai from Gundam and Astro Boy in.
But most of the time its dubshit, so this can be ignored.
>PanelsPanels are a tossup between a fun time or being in a room with the biggest obnoxious faggot of all time.
Generally though, you can tell the best ones will be done by people with an existing presence, stuff like people involved in fan communities for decades.
Also, sponsored ones do giveaways, so go to them if you like the thing being sponsored.
>Dealer HallPerhaps the worst reason to go, but still a viable one. It's basically like going to a gunshow. Have a few risque figures or dakis you want? Someone in the dealer hall might have them. Something old and OOP that you'd rather check in person? Dealer hall.
>Official partiesAlways gay and lame.
