Well, it's more that Rose is the only female character that expresses any real sexual desire for Edward, and when he goes to Germany, her counterpart falls in love with Edward.
Winry for the most part is fairly asexual for a lot of 2003. The most 'romance' she gets is when Envy pretended to be her to trick Alphonse.

the more recent anime adaptation of the manga is mediocre and worse than the manga, the parts of the manga the earlier anime did adapt were handled better than in the recent "more faithful" remake, don't bother with it

The mangaka got lost in her hormones because FMA was originally penned with the recognition that "for something to be gained, something of equal or greater value must be lost", which is why '03, despite the majority of zoomer /a/ hating it because they prefer the generic shounen trash that's Brotherhood, is more true and pure to the spirit of what FMA should have been, even if they created an ending outside of what the original writer penned later on.

What you faggots don't get is that Brotherhood's ending is just as much of an asspull as Naruto becoming hokage, Ichigo getting five different forms, and Goku going Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Blue.
