How is this anime so bad but so watchable? It's not "so bad it's good" either where enjoyment is gained from the lack of quality itself. No, it's something else. It's as if it's watchable and comfy in spite of being terrible, and wasting its own premise even right at the beginning. Wouldn't it have been more logical for the protag to have originally been handsome and then have to become ugly in the isekai world? Also, having it be that he can't touch girls seems at odds with the social penalty of being ugly. Getting hurt if you touch girls and exploding if you have sex seems like it's own separate premise that would fit better with an ikemen player type who is given incredible powers in exchange for it. That way, the character would go through anguish and the trade off would be a real penalty that affects the story.
Saying all of that bullcrap, I somehow don't care and want to keep watching to see what happens. I'm watching this incredibly generic cardboard cut out anime where the only premise is that there's a big fat ugly guy who's harmed by touching women, and absolutely nothing of consequence happens (things have the superficial appearance of happening but don't have consequences or are resolved immediately), but somehow I like it.

It is a generic isekai but the new part is that so far the isekai itself is not the focus. It is actually a show about broken people healing.

It's still isekai, but it's not every isekai show you have already seen 10+ times, yet t the same time nothing revolutionary. Which in turn works good for it, as any isekai trying to be revolutionary or different is either cringefest of teenage edge to the level of comedy, nor is it some straightlined snormieslop for people who barely watch anime to begin with.

It's unique and stands out, without trying to do so on purpose and forcing it. Which in a way is a big achievement for such a simple series. Basically it's good without having any specific justified explainable grand right to be, which in turn makes it enjoyable as a whole.

It's basically story over fancy camera effects at work. Even a simple story is good if it's done right, and does not need to be a sakuga hell appealing to the most mouthbreathing people imaginable

Apparently manga ended in 32 chapters and novel ended in 6 volumes, the numbers are telling me this was axed years ago so why anime now? Nothing makes sense, but then again Black Torch and Psyren are getting anime too, maybe reality is a simulation and something fucked up is going on or some shit.
