The amount this fight tries to badly rewrite history is one reason I can't ever like it. Also every moment of the fight basically exists to wank Kevin and the Robin clan as the true successors of the chojin world, and claims that kinnikuman beating Robin at the last Olympics was a travesty and a fluke, and that Robin's superior techniques never should have lost. Even in the early part they have to make all of Kinnikuman's old techniques job to superior Robin techniques.

I don't think the series really works the same when the underdog protagonist loses. It's like if Jaden lost and got expelled in Yu-Gi-Oh GX. It's like what is the rest of the story? The underdog protagonist is always in a precarious position in these stories where no one respects him, the only thing that keeps him having why respect at all is his undefeated record, and a single loss will sink his entire career. Why are people waiting for Mantaro to show up and save them anymore when he's no longer the strongest, or if he's no longer the one in control? Everyone should be waiting for Kevin the save the day instead. Which is why the story kinda feels like it loses direction after this fight. What is it that makes Kinnikuman clan special if they lose? They basically have to keep winning or they lose the thing that makes people cry out to them to save them. You can lose non standard matches like the wedding day match since it isn't a recorded match, but you aren't allowed to lose serious matches. Because the kids look out for kinnikuman to save them, he has to be infallible in the public despite everyone hating him as a loser chojin.
