Written by a woman, women who indulge in fiction tend to be more socially adjusted than their male counterparts. Better social integration = more natural character writing.

the story is focused on the eating part and telling some background stories of the characters and showing their interactions without making them all out to be perverts or stereotypical tropes too much (it still has plenty of that). it's just a fun story, and trigger did a good job of animating it, though it is less animated than their usual original content.

The only part of that statement with any amount of grounding is that she like CRPGs. The rest is complete conjecture. We don't know anything about her social life except for what she posts on her blog (which is mostly doodles).

The author Kui apparently played through and absorbed like a dozen or more CRPGs before and while she wrote the manga. So I think in addition to her being a really good storyteller, she really understood the pros and cons of a classic dungeon crawler party and similarly really enjoyed fleshing out the world around them. You can see in the like 4 or 5 supplemental books that were released that Kui basically adores her own characters and spent considerable time understanding how they saw themselves in relation to the rest of the world as well as where the historical conflicts/prejudices/biases come from as a result.

I think as a result she never wavered too much from the main thrust of the plot and that allowed her to always get inside her characters heads. They each have prime strengths and weaknesses, they each have breaking points mentally and emotionally, they each have a prime motivation that they relate back to the rest of the group. So each member understands the other and compensates for them during low points. It's very fun

They all individually work and they all balance each other out. They have their own goals and personalities that let them stand strong on their own so they become more interesting when they bounce off each other.

I think it's mostly just that Kui loves her characters a lot and sincerely wanting to explore them leads to good dynamics. Plus she had an immense amount of time with them compared to most manga, 14 volumes in 10 years with lots of short chapters and breaks to cogitate on them.

because it's not 6 girls fawning over a "nice" guy who has 0 personality. God i hate that shit, add a bro or 2 to balance it out and don't make them walk on eggshells around each other, make them have banter and actual conversation, and give bro a girl instead of them all going for mc

i feel like whoever writes that shit never had friends, people don't act like that in real life. I don't know why but i can't stomach most anime interaction these days, it feels so retarded. Maybe it's because i got older but i used to watch literally anything. I'd open /a/ and watch the first anime i see, i hit random on random sites then torrent. Now i can barely make it past episode 3 without dropping it

Doubt, maybe a few but those are just brainrotted neets who recoil at the sight of a job application so not real people who matter

The only thing I don't like is Chil's frequent nagging getting annoying, and how often it's used as an excuse to exposition dump about the setting or who somebody is. Maybe it's just an anime issue with pacing or whatever because I don't remember feeling this way reading the manga, or maybe it's because I had already heard it all before the first time.

They all have their own lives and motivations. The author respects them as individuals. Laois is of course the MC but you could easily do a short story of any of them being the MC. They don't revolve around Laois, they butt heads with him beyond simple lipservice. And Laois isn't some bog standard template of a JRPG protagonist but actually one of the most interesting characters who mesh(i)s seamlessly into the world and its themes.
All this sounds basic as fuck but 99% of anime fail in this regard when the entire world holds its breath whenever MC-kun starts talking about the most trivial shit.

Bit of a snag with the Falin mod, the new art guy needs a bunch of time off, but he is almost done on his end. On my end it's mostly just the boring stuff like testing and balancing left, so I've been procrastinating real bad.
